Piano lessons with Ms. Tatiana are built on three interconnected pillars: technical facility, musical understanding, and performance fluency. This integrated approach ensures every student—child or adult, beginner or advanced—develops both the discipline of a trained pianist and the confidence of a complete musician.
Weekly lessons systematically introduce skills, with every new piece chosen to solidify acquired techniques while training a novel element. Whole-arm technique and tone productions are emphasized from the very first lesson, and musicality is fostered at all levels through ensemble repertoire.
Ample performance opportunities help students gain confidence both on stage and at home. Through regular required recitals, musicians of all ages and skill levels are guided through preparation for local, national, and international competitions.
Music Theory and History classes build both music appreciation and musicianship, as well as fundamental skills such as ear training, harmonic analysis, and period-appropriate performance. The advanced class will prepare for AP-level testing.
Students of all ages and skill level are welcomed into the studio, with each program tailored to the player’s stage of development. Weekly lessons form the backbone of instruction, providing the consistency necessary for steady progress. Adult learners and advanced adolescents may choose between in-studio or Zoom lessons, ensuring flexibility without compromising rigor.
Performance remains central to training. At least one formal recital each year is required of all students, with additional quarterly performance opportunities offered to build comfort and confidence on stage. These events develop not only poise under pressure but also the ability to share music as a living art form.
Ensemble playing is an essential component of the curriculum. Students of similar level are paired for multi-hand or multi-piano works, while advanced students may participate in chamber groups through extracurricular projects. Ensemble training cultivates a musical ear, harmonic awareness, and rhythmic precision, while teaching the collaborative skills vital to artistry.
Non-adult students are strongly encouraged to enroll in theory courses, grouped by age. These interactive classes reinforce notation, ear training, and harmonic analysis, giving young musicians a deeper grasp of the language they perform. Music history curriculum contextualizes the development of musical expression.
Young musicians can pursue several certificate tracks, depending on their specific interests in what aspects of repertoire or performance to focus on.
Repertoire incorporates classical compositions from all musical periods, from baroque to modern compositions. By selecting pieces affording a broad range of stylistic expression, students rapidly develop musical ear, robust technique, and stylistic language.
